The Reason They Hate Us: Because We Are Us

Sometimes, hatred doesn’t need a reason.
It doesn’t stem from something you’ve done or said—it’s simply because of who you are.
They hate us because we are us. As simple as that.

This kind of hate is irrational, deeply rooted in envy, misunderstanding, or even fear of the unknown.
Let’s delve into why this happens and how to navigate it without letting it affect our sense of self.

1. Why Do They Hate Us?

1. Our Identity Challenges Their Insecurities:
Often, people project their insecurities onto others.
When they see confidence, strength, or uniqueness in us, it highlights their own perceived shortcomings.

2. Fear of the Unknown:
Being different, whether in thought, belief, or behaviour, often triggers discomfort in others.
They hate us because they don’t understand us, and instead of seeking understanding, they choose rejection.

3. Envy of What They Don’t Have:
Our successes, strengths, or resilience can stir envy in others.
They hate us not for what we’ve taken from them but for what we represent—something they wish they had.

4. A Need to Belong:
Sometimes, people hate simply because others do.
It’s easier to join the crowd than to stand out, so they follow groupthink without questioning it.

2. Why Their Hatred Shouldn’t Define Us

1. It Says More About Them Than Us:
Their hatred is a reflection of their own struggles, not our worth.
By understanding this, we can detach ourselves emotionally from their negativity.

2. We’re Not Here to Please Everyone:
As servants of Allah, our purpose isn’t to win everyone’s approval.
Our mission is to remain true to our values, even when others don’t understand or accept us.

3. Their Hate Can’t Dim Our Light:
Their dislike doesn’t reduce our abilities, achievements, or purpose.
We are still us—strong, resilient, and unwavering in our faith and mission.

3. How to Deal with Their Hatred

1. Stay True to Yourself:
Don’t change who you are to fit their narrative or expectations.
Embrace your uniqueness and stand firm in your values.

2. Respond with Dignity:
When faced with hatred, responding with anger only fuels the fire.
Instead, choose silence, kindness, or even walking away.

  • “And when they hear ill speech, they turn away from it and say,
‘For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds.
Peace will be upon you; we seek not the ignorant.’”
    (Surah Al-Qasas: 55)

3. Set Boundaries:
You don’t have to tolerate toxic behaviour.
Distance yourself from those who seek to bring you down, and focus on people who uplift and support you.

4. Trust in Allah’s Plan:
Remember that Allah is aware of everything.
He sees your struggles and will reward your patience and perseverance.

4. The Strength in Being “We Are Us

1. Our Uniqueness Is Our Power:
They may hate us because we’re different, but that difference is what makes us strong.
Our faith, resilience, and purpose set us apart in a way that not everyone can handle.

2. We’re Guided by a Higher Purpose:
While others may act out of jealousy or ignorance, we are driven by our amanah and devotion to Allah.

3. Love from the Right People Matters More:
For every person who hates us, there are others who respect and love us for who we are.
Focus on those who see your value, not those who refuse to.

Conclusion: Let Them Hate, We’ll Stay True

They hate us because we are us—plain and simple.
But that’s their problem, not ours.

We’re not here to seek their approval or change who we are to make them comfortable.
Instead, we continue to walk our path with dignity, faith, and resilience.

As long as we remain true to ourselves and our purpose, their hatred can never break us.
We are us, and that’s something they’ll never take away.
